Rahat Ghar-Kashmir

The turmoil and tabric of the conflict in kashmir had shattered the very fabric of existence of women that made them continuous victims of physical/psychological, cultural as well as economic violence.
Altough women of Kashmir were most affected by the armed insurgency and counterintersurgency in the region, they were largely absent in the decision - making bodies at the local, regional and national levels.
It is the spirit of upholding the notion of peace and communal harmony that stimulated the desire to establish Raahat Ghar in Kashmir in 2001 in order to mainstream Kashmiri women by providing them a conducive atmosphere to grow, progress, enhance their skills and become self-reliant. The aim was to bring back their lost dignity and respect that was lost in the ashes of conflict and turmoil.

The Guild has been running a home for conflict affected children in Kashmir for 20 years now. These are some pictures of them and their garden produce
